Raitakukka pattern

The inspiration for the pattern Raitakukka comes from shadows in a forest. Tall tree trunks created stripy lines, and the smaller trees or other plants showed as leafy silhouettes. This view turned into a sketch with a lined background added with leaves and flowers.

During the sketching process, I tested the repetition of both the elements and colors and also how round or strict lines I wanted to use. The name Raitakukka means in Finnish “a stripe flower”.
